This was originally part of a cover design used for a fantasy gaming periodical towards the end of the 1980's, with the tiger being originally a lion. I singled out the hero and the beast from the cover artwork later on and improved on them as much as I could, particularly the muscles of the hero's back and shoulders. They're among the hardest areas of the human figure to draw well!

With the grappler's limbs of sinew locked around the beast's throat and torso, the outcome of the battle is now decided... The continued struggle in the dust will end with the sound of a dull crunch as the animal's body finally goes limp, the stalwart maintaining his death-dealing grip until he is certain of the demise of his foe... (Look, no real tigers have been hurt in the creation of this work, okay?)
